Of Dignity

every dance has been sung
words riding waves of faulty
conjugations, perceptions

every last award has broken
pride falling to shards
of flawless posture

the last song died today
invisible lyrics retired forever
dignity couldn't compare

state of affairs

confusing anger for hate
curdling feelings like a
fire addict waiting for
the next dose of destruction

ain't going to go down
kicking or screaming
ain't going to fly high
into heavenly paradise

only degrading love for lust
tearing apart petals
from the cold past
waiting for them to thaw

Grooveshark Surveys

Remarkably, one of the stupidest achievements I’ve ever attained. I like streaming music. Streaming music has been a small passion of mine since the time I wrote for a college publication.

The beauty about the article is that only two of the services are still in business. You know, it’s the Internet. It’s easy to make a website but it’s also as easy to lose/give up on your website.

Since then, there are other great music streaming services out there. There’s Spotify, Rdio, Grooveshark, Yahoo Launch (rebranded as Yahoo New Music), and so many more. Right now I’m torn between Grooveshark and Spotify.

In my opinion, they’re almost on a level field. Spotify lets you get away with more things (like connecting your account to Last.fm) while Grooveshark allows you to upload any song (just not Pink Floyd or the Beatles) to the ongoing-unreliable music collection that other users can listen to.

Grooveshark was my favorite service three months ago before Spotify was available in the US. At the same time Grooveshark released “Grooveshark surveys” where users could accumulate points to cash in on rewards. It was all great in theory, except that nobody actually qualified for the surveys. I have not been eligible for the: Short Easy, Healthy, Adult Beverage, Technology, Feeverse Mobile Gaming, Home Services, New Food Item Concept, Pet Product, Consumer Product, Grocery Item, and Consumer Products-Food surveys.

But, still managed to accumulate 600 points for Grooveshark Plus. So now I’m going to abuse my awesome Grooveshark Plus power. I’m going to connect my Last.fm, pick a couple of songs, and let the radio run all freaking day for one month!

Some Days

raSome days you wake up, check email, go through a list of designs, and then you reach the point where your brain seeks a ‘vacation.’ You sit quietly, staring at your computer screen, wondering if there is any inspiration left in this world to motivate you to pick up the next item on your to do list.

Some days, this task requires food. But, the inspiration isn’t there. The bright colors in the refrigerator don’t entice or excite. The prospect of one slice of toast with a marginal spread of margarine almost makes you turn to the kitchen. Nah, that’s not quite what happens. Eventually, you get up, put something in the microwave or toaster oven, and you return to the emptiness.

The one that prevents you from figuring out how you’re going to get to point A from point nonexistent. Prevents you from making conscious decisions and backtracks your day by 10%. At the end of a day like this, half of the day is forgotten, and everything on the to do list is done.

MM 15 August 2011

I took a short break to watch Muriel's Wedding, a very strange movie about a very strange and quirky girl. It inspired the following playlist.

Hand Down

I'm old. It's also really hard to type with one hand (insert jokes here). Check out my fancy hand wrapping skills.

So bored

Actually, I'm not that bored. I have a lot to do (cleaning, editing, designing, writing, etc) but I'm not really feeling it. Days like these I wish I was at the beach; sun hitting my face, and my short curly hair catching the sand-filled wind. Fish jumping out of the waves. Yeah, that sounds pretty good.

Or, I could be at the park. Staring at the trees, walking around barefoot, and enjoying the smell of grass.

Maybe, I could be in a really comfy home-theater room with giant TVs and super awesome sofas. Then, I'll watch a movie. Or read a book. Haven't really read a book in a while.

But, I have work to do. I don't want to. So I ramble.

Machine Heart

Nothing stays long in my machine heart
Valves and bolts simmering to poison
Stirring it only makes me angrier; louder
Ain't nothing going to make me calm
Ain't nothing going to make me care

Nothing matters to my machine heart
Cardioligists poke and probe it
Studying it only makes me apathetic; hateful
Ain't nothing going to make me love
Ain't nothing going to make me soft

MM 1 AUG 2011

What to do, it's Monday again. Earlier in the year I tried making a specific-day-recurring-topic per post but that failed. It's kinda cool that I still kept the Monday Morning music playlist thing going.

I just love music! Here's the link to the Spotify playlist.
