April, the month of folly

I might start drinking coffee again.

No, not all the awesome events and holidays in April are foolish. Actually, maybe the only thing foolish about April is April's fools day. Still, this April I intend to do more than I normally do in terms of writing, branding, publishing, and activism.

Writing. This April will be my second year attempting the Poetry a Day Challenge hosted Robert Lee Brewer. There's a contest at the end of it for possible publication, but I don't intend to enter that. The sole purpose of participating is to write. Yeah, I tend to not write as much as I can. Especially poetry, I hardly write it anymore. Thus, this April I will be foolish enough to write one poem a day, every day; no exceptions. *Edit. I'll be doing NaPoWrimo as well run by Maureen Thorson.

Branding. Robert Lee Brewer also has an April Platform Challenge that will seek to help writers build a platform for themselves. Building a platform in this day and age is crucial for any person interested in the writing and publishing field. Naturally, it will be in my best interest to attempt this challenge; and so I will.

Publishing. On Impression will be really busy this year. Maybe, even busier than it will ever imagine. On Impression Books is releasing books and magazines on Amazon.com, Drunk Monkeys publishes on a semi-daily basis, Parody has released their first issue, Five 2 One will be releasing their second issue in the summer, Enhance will be releasing their seventh issue, and Salon de Madame Odalys is preparing their first ever cash-prize contest. All this and more! Really, there is just so much to do.

Activism. My Guy Fawkes mask will retire. It's too hot in Texas to be running around with a mask, I'll have to settle for some red sunglasses. Me and my red sunglasses might just be running around Texas this month.

After typing all this out I can only be excited for the next month. Somehow, I really want to start working on my own poetry collection, but we'll see if that pans out.
