I needed a poetry-writing break. So, I'm going to do as many Poetic Asides Poetry Prompts as I can.
June 20, 2012 prompt: write a straight line poem (yes, I’m playing off a 180-degree angle for the 180th Wednesday Poetry Prompt). There are several ways to tackle this prompt, including writing a poem about a straight line drive through Indiana or Iowa, drawing a straight line in the sand, or writing a poem that is one line long. Those are just some ideas.
B to A
The distance between a straight line
Is the journey we're embarking
From B-line in heaven to the A-track
In the middlespace of my eternity
One tree passes by as we sit
In the air-tight packed train
Two trees pass by
A creek with growing trunks
The Creek of Drowing Dreams
A rash line of thunder pushes us
Awake at the Angel's Crosswalk
I look out the window
Child hand prints push back the black truck
Just in time to miss our passing
